Women's Community House
A shelter for women is a great way to save money and build a support network while living in transitional housing. Survivors of domestic abuse are a prime example of people who need the support.
Lotus House staff are constantly rethinking how to serve their clients best. This study was used to help guide their discussions and efforts to continue to deliver identified service strengths while addressing participants' concerns.
Rachel’s Night Shelter
Rachel’s Night Shelter provides overnight, emergency, short-term and mid-term shelter for homeless women. The shelter also provides evening meals, laundry and shower facilities, access to medical care and transportation assistance.
The 35-bed Rachel’s Night Shelter, located about two blocks away from the new downtown location of Rachel’s Promise, is run by Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego and operates the daytime drop-in Rachel Women?s Center across the street. It is among the nonprofit’s many shelters for homeless individuals, including its 100-bed La Posada men?s shelter in Carlsbad, 50-bed Our Lady of Guadalupe shelter in Calexico and 24-bed House of Hope shelter in El Centro.
However, the 35-bed overnight facility is often under capacity, which could be due to several factors such as a lottery drawing for available beds at 9 a.m., or the fact that women sometimes don?t return to claim their space after being awarded it. The city’s monthly count shows that the number of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness in San Diego continues to rise.
YWCA Pathways for Women
YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley is on a mission to help women and their children achieve self-sufficiency. We offer a variety of rapid re-housing and transitional housing programs that aim to help clients achieve housing stability, healing, and independence.
We do this by working closely with our community partners to help ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients. We also work from a Housing First model, empowering our housing clients to take control of their own lives by developing a long-term plan for stable housing in the foreseeable future.
YWCA Missoula creates real change for more than 3,000 adults and children each year. Our programs focus on ending domestic violence, helping unsheltered families get the shelter they need, and building a city where all people, regardless of race or gender, have opportunities for growth, leadership, and power.
